Learn to Swim at Lower Wick

Fun, Friendly & Confident Swimming Lessons for All Ages

Learning to swim is one of life’s most valuable skills, and at Lower Wick Swimming Pool, we make it fun, safe, and rewarding from day one.

Our friendly, qualified instructors teach children and adults of all abilities, helping every swimmer build confidence in the water and achieve their goals at their own pace. Whether you’re a complete beginner or brushing up on your strokes, our lessons are designed to make you smile as you learn.

Why Choose Lower Wick Swimming Lessons?

We’re more than just a pool; we’re a supportive, community-run space where every swimmer matters.

Experienced, caring teachers

All our instructors are fully qualified, DBS-checked, and passionate about helping people enjoy the water safely.

Class sizes

Groups of up to 12 swimmers with up to 3 instructors per group means more one-to-one attention, quicker progress, and a calmer learning environment.

Warm, comfortable water

Our pool is heated to 32.5 °C, perfect for young children and beginners who need time to relax in the water.

A local, family-feel facility

We’ve been part of Worcester’s Lower Wick community for generations. Many of our teachers first learned to swim here themselves!

Our Learn to Swim Programme

Our lessons follow a structured pathway that helps every swimmer move smoothly from beginner to confident, independent swimming.

Beginners
(Groups 1–3)

For children who are completely new to swimming.

Instructors stay in the water with learners, using structured but fun lessons to build confidence, learn technique, balance, and basic movement.

Beginner Plus
(Group 4)

For children who can swim a width of our pool confidently, out of their depth.

We introduce breathing to the side, kicking techniques, and early stroke patterns.

Improvers
(Groups 5–6)

Swimmers build endurance and refine their technique in front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke.

Swimmers are now introduced to swimming lengths. Techniques on strokes with correct breathing and skills are developed further.

Advanced Swimmers
(Groups 7–8)

For those working on advanced techniques, dives, turns, and stamina.

We also introduce elements from the RLSS Rookie Lifeguard & National Lifesaving Academy programme, preparing swimmers for lifeguard or water safety awards.

Building Confidence – One Splash at a Time

We understand that learning to swim can be a big step for some children (and adults, too). That’s why our team puts confidence and fun before anything else.

We aim to help every swimmer feel safe and proud of what they achieve, whether that’s floating on their own for the first time or completing a full length unaided.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age can my child start lessons?

Most children start from around 4.5 years old, once they’re comfortable in the water with a parent.

Can siblings swim together?

Where possible, yes! We’ll do our best to arrange consecutive sessions or suitable groupings.

Do you offer lessons for children with additional needs?

Absolutely. Our instructors are trained to adapt lessons so every child can progress at their own pace. Our groups are as inclusive as possible. Please chat to us before booking.
